Alentejo Cante is already Cultural and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. UNESCO's decision will serve to safeguard and transmit this tradition to future generations, work to which the musician Pedro Mester has dedicated his life. Singing the traditional music of Alentejo for 25 years, pioneer of the safeguard project of Cante, founder and assayer Alentejo corals, Pedro Mester is a major contributor to the emergence of new generations in the traditional music of the Alentejo, leading Alentejo Coral Cante for schools, where since 2006 teaches the tradition to students of the 1st cycle in various schools of Alentejo.
