The PAPOILAS (poppies) are from Aldeia d’À-de-Corvo (village) in the municipality of Castro Verde. Gathered to sing in 2001 and to keep alive the musical tradition that has always marked their lives .

They sing the Modas (traditional alentejo songs) of yore, the modas of balls where the songs dictated the rhythm of dance and peer exchange. Dances where boys and girls flirted, and courtship began and ended.

The PAPOILAS are the pinnacle of those bygone days of sung dances and their presentations which evoke sounds and ways of dancing that fallen into disuse long ago.
